Five members of the Rams’ cheerleading squad left St. Louis today on a military goodwill tour of the Middle East. The group will visit bases in Iraq and Kuwait before returning to St. Louis on February 23.

As part of the tour, the cheerleaders will visit three military bases each day and meet with members of the military. The cheerleaders making the trip include Danielle Hogan, Lauren Moore, Christa Marx, Shannon Ward and Tiffany Crocker.

“We’re very proud of the cheerleaders' commitment to make this important trip and honor our service men and women for their sacrifices and the tremendous service they provide our country on a daily basis,” said Lucia Rodriguez, owner/partner, chair of community outreach, St. Louis Rams. “The Rams have a long history of honoring our nation’s military, and continuing to demonstrate our support of the troops is a priority for the organization.”

This marks the second time in eight months that the cheerleaders have traveled to the Middle East. In total, the cheerleaders have made more than 10 overseas trips in addition to numerous visits to military bases within the United States.

Each year, the Rams also honor the military in a variety of ways including in-game salutes during every home game as well as an annual “Salute to Veteran’s” game around Veteran’s Day. Throughout the season, the Rams provide game tickets to the military and their families. In 2008, players and cheerleaders also made appearances at Scott Air Force Base and the local VA hospital where they participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for the Fisher House, a facility that houses families of patients receiving medical care at the VA hospital.
