By Bailey, 2-Year Veteran
It's hard to believe that an entire eight months has passed since the 2008-2009 MVC was first announced. It certainly has been proof that time does, in fact, fly when you're having fun.
Since April, the MVC have had the privilege of participating in countless community events. To name a few…we cheered on thousands of participants at the Race for the Cure and the Lupus Walk for Hope, helped raise money for the Minnesota Rhett Syndrome Foundation and Minnesota Survivor Resources, and competed against the WILD mascot at the Salvation Army's Celebrity Bell Ringing. I think we won!
The MVC had the opportunity to meet the Radio City Rockettes this year and fly to Mexico City, Ft. Lewis, and Ft. McCoy to shake the hands of our armed forces. We cheered on future American Idol winners at Mary's Place Halloween Party and learned a cheer from the girls at the St. Paul Boys and Girls Club.
Always busy but we never tire of meeting new smiling faces and spreading purple pride! Aside from our hectic schedules we found time to relax and get to know each other at pool parties, holiday celebrations, and team dinners. We celebrated engagements, weddings, and a baby shower! We made road trips and even headed to Tampa Bay to make sure there was enough purple in the crowd!
Though the football season has ended, cheerleading season will not rest. Twelve MVC will represent the Vikings on a USO Tour in February and five ladies will return to Iraq for another visit to support the troops.
We have enjoyed every second of this season and eagerly anticipate another. Thank you for joining in the fun Vikings Fans! Can't wait to see you next year!
