NFL Week# 15 - The Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders

Posted by Midwest Dave at 11:00 AM ET

After the Colts game against the Lions, I rushed to my work desk, a couple of blocks from the stadium, to report that Shonica was the Pro Bowl selection for the Colts Cheerleaders.

In addition to that announcement, it was a typically busy day for the Colts Cheerleaders. Wearing their holiday uniforms and performing routines to holiday music, the Cheerleaders also were featured at halftime with the Junior Colts Cheerleaders.

The Cheerleaders dealt with the always mischievous mascot Blue, who carried around mistletoe on a stick to try to start some "puckering up" around the stadium, His exploits included having the Cheerleaders give a smooch to sidekick Lil Blue, and trying to encourage Ashlii to get kissy-faced with a member of the security detail (wisely she wouldn't, you give a mascot an inch, you know he'll take a mile). Also, the Cheerleaders performed their excellent routines, posed with the Junior Fan of the Game, and tossed t-shirts to fans. Holiday spirit filled the air, but did not seem complete in that the aptly named for the season "Holly" and her line never cycled in front of my section.

Breanna

My Sideline Standout of the Game, for exciting performance with great spirit goes to Breanna, a rookie with an ever-present smile, bright eyes, a great sense of fun and enthusiasm, and who cuts a striking pose on the sidelines. And then I look at her Colts profile (), and her "Favorite Childhood Memory" is listed as "Getting together with my family for Christmas." I should have known she was sprinkled with a little extra special holiday magic these days.

I happened to be sitting next to some enthusiastic (even at 0-13), but courteous Lions fans. Maybe they would have some wins up in Detroit if the Lions added some cheer to their own sidelines. During the closing moments, in a game too close for Colts' comfort, the Lions appeared to recover a fumble that could have given them the ball down seven points but with a chance to tie. Was I the only Colts fan in Lucas Oil Stadium hoping for a tie? After all, that's just extra time for me to enjoy and photograph the Colts Cheerleaders, hoping for a last second winning field goal in overtime for maximal sideline entertainment. Alas, the referees ruled the Colts maintained possession, the Lions fans next to me felt that Indy received an extra holiday gift, and Indianapolis kicked an insurance field goal for a 10 point win.
