Professional Cheerleaders AlumniOn July 11, 2008, Board Members of Professional Cheerleaders Alumni awarded their first annual $500.00 Community Grant to Children's Home Society's, Promise House.

The PCA Community Grant Program benefits economically and socially at risk women and children of Northeast Florida.

Promise House is a shelter and independent living training program for teenage mothers and their babies, ages 14-17, of all races. The Community Grant award bought new cooking equipment to more effectively teach the girls how to cook for themselves and their children.

The new equipment will add a sense of excitement and greater feeling of self-worth when learning these important skills. "The equipment will include high-quality pots and pans, measuring tools, serving utensils and more," says Nick Geinosky of CHS.

There were five applicants who applied for PCA's first Community Grant online. "It was an honor to tour Children's Home Society, meet some of the young ladies in the program and present them with the $500 we raised," said Kristin Doakes, Grant Committee Chair and Vice-President of Professional Cheerleaders Alumni. The $500 was raised through annual membership dues to Professional Cheerleaders Alumni.

The PCA Community Grant will be awarded annually and will accept applications for the June 2009 award deadline at ProCheerleadersAlumni.com
