Seahawks vs Chargers – NFL Preseason Week 3

Posted by David Allen Tyau at 1:05 PM ET

The news out of San Diego this week was that resident defensive stud, Shawne Merriman has two torn ligaments in his knee and might miss the regular season. And if this wasn’t bad enough, a San Diego News Tribune article hinted strongly that the Chargers are considering not resigning their defensive star once his current contract expires. Rumors seem to suggest that the Charger management is displeased with Merriman’s off the field activities, e.g. his new in-season Fox broadcasting gig, but this would be tantamount to not resigning Jason Taylor because he likes dancing with the stars too much. Come on A. J. Smith, let’s keep Shawne a merry man. Sign him, sign him NOW!

Oh well, misery does love company and this week, I invited our Arizona Cardinals correspondent Max to join me in San Diego to experience all that the Charger Girls have to offer. And that’s a lot…a visual feast for the eyes…a plethora of beauties in blue and gold…okay, enough of the hyperbole. Before this past Monday, I had never met Max except via email, but he and a few other people have become my internet buddies because of our love of football, cheerleaders and photography. But that’s the great thing about this blog, it brings people together.

Yep, that’s Max, our Arizona Cardinals correspondent who bears more than a slight resemblance to Joe Francis of Girls Gone Wild fame.

As for the football, the Chargers battled the Seahawks in a surprisingly competitive and well played game. Okay, “well played” is a relative term in this context...it’s still preseason. However, the game featured an atmosphere more akin to a playoff game than a battle between second stringers. It was a rather exciting affair…for a preseason game. The Chargers eventually prevailed 18 -17 by scoring a touchdown and two point conversion in the last two minutes of the game.

And that wasn’t the only excitement. Preseason, regular season or the playoffs, the Charger Girls always put on a good show.

With a squad consisting of 14 rookies, Line Captains Summer, Constance, Rebecca and Katrina have their hands full in ensuring everything is in order.

Speaking of putting on a good show, here’s CG veterans Ashlie, Ashley, Gail, and Michelle.

Last time, I said I was looking for a few new “favorite Charger Girls” to replace some long time veterans that retired. I think I found my replacements. Here’s a few photos the effervescent Jenny and gorgeous Jennifer, two rookies that really stand out.

And of course, Kylette is one my current “favorite Charger Girls” and I think you can see why. She never takes a bad or uninteresting photograph, even when she’s imploring the fans to get up for the game. And like all of the Charger Girls…she’s looks hot in the uniform.

And here are a few more gorgeous Charger Girls, rookies Breann, Carissa, Lindsay, Nicole L. and Nicole M.

By the way, did any of you catch the first night of the Democratic National Convention? Not me, I was watching Tonya, Tamara, Marissa, Heather and my favorite former USC Song Girl Jacquelyn cheer on the Chargers to victory.

Well, the good thing for football fans is that there’s only one more week of preseason football and then the real thing begins. For Charger fans, we get the pleasure of hosting the Jets, Colts, Patriots and the Raiders in prime time for four nationally televised events. Woo! Hoo! There’s nothing like NFL football…regular season football, that is.
