NFL Pre-season Week #3 - The Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders

Posted by James at 5:51 PM ET

Midwest Dave reports from last week's Colts game:

After years of negotiations, planning, and construction, the Indianapolis Colts have a new home, Lucas Oil Stadium. Exclusively indoor living has given way to retractable cover, so the Colts, their fans, and the Colts Cheerleaders now can enjoy the great outdoors (as long as there is no rain in the forecast and temperatures are reasonably comfy). As a big blue switch was flipped, fireworks exploded, the roof opened, and the air conditioned atmosphere escaped to be replaced by a balmy Indiana night, with an occasional breeze through the window that opens to overlook downtown. For the Colts Cheerleaders, it was not their first game outdoors, the rainy Super Bowl win and the recent Hall of Fame game in Canton come to mind, but it does start a new era of outdoor home games. In December, the RCA Dome will be imploded, but the memories of great seasons will stay with us.

If you are watching a game, we all know how important a good color commentator is. Someone who stands side by side with the play by play guy, filling them in important details not otherwise obvious to the average fan. Preferably, someone with a Super Bowl ring, Pro Bowl selection, and an innovator in their own right. But, couldn't we all use a cheerleader color analyst? So what a thrill to have such an accomplished pro cheerleader in the seat next to me, letting me in on the ins and outs of the experience: current Pacemate, former Colts and Bengals cheerleader Seazun was in the house! With a Super Bowl ring with the Colts, Pro Bowl selection with the Ben-Gals, and experience to the degree that the Colts cheerleaders would give her a shout out when they performed routines that Seazun herself choreographed (!), it was great to be able to hear about the ins and outs of the pro cheerleader experience. Someday should would make a great director/choreographer when her performing days are over (hint hint pro teams out there…)

Seazun shared with me that there are 5 lines of Colts Cheerleaders, 4 on the field and another that visits suites and performs other activities. The Colts Cheerleaders on the field did a great job in their new environs, and it should be an exciting season of transition for the squad. It was really difficult to select my Sideline award of the night with so many veterans and up-to-speed rookies, but, envelope please, the award goes to Krystal, Pro Bowler from last season. I don't like making such unoriginal picks, especially with exceptional performances by Holly and Travesha, but Krystal was in post-season form. If only Peyton Manning get back to the level of performance of Krystal, the Colts will be alright.

Thanks again for Seazun answering a lot of questions!! She says the Pacemates will be ready for an exciting season of new routines, new uniforms, and a veteran-laden squad.
