MiamiDolphins.com: On Wednesday, August 13th, Miami Beach's most legendary restaurant, The Forge, brought sports fans and pom pons together as it hosted the official 2009 Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders Calendar unveiling ceremony and fashion show, presented by OceanDrive Magazine with additional support by Body Details, Bud Light, Motorola and THE COLLECTION. During the first public unveiling of their 16-month 2009 swimsuit calendar, all 39 Dolphins cheerleaders arrived in a fleet of luxury cars from The Collection to strut their stuff down the "orange carpet" to meet with Commissioner Jerry Libbin and The Forge owner Shareef Malnik to proclaim August 13th as "Miami Dolphins Cheer Day." Others who donned the orange carpet to show their support for the beauties were former Miami Dolphins quarterback Bernie Kosar and Miami Heat star Alonzo Mourning.
Guests were on-site to witness the overwhelmed reaction of 22 year-old Wilmington, North Carolina-native and second-year cheerleader, Brittany Marlowe, as the official Miami Dolphins announcer Kenny Walker uncovered the 30-foot high multi-colored curtain, adorning the entire façade of The Forge, to reveal Marlowe on the 2009 cover, surrounded by live dolphins, exotic birds and tropical settings from Florida’s Discovery Cove in Orlando.
"None of the girls knew who was going to be on the cover until now," said an ecstatic and tearful Marlowe in front of a hoard of eagerly awaiting reporters. "This is the first time in years they have chosen a single girl to be on the cover. It was such an honor to be selected for the final 16 out of our squad of 39 girls. I still cannot believe I was chosen for the cover," added Marlowe.
The evening followed with two fashion shows in both The Forge and Glass nightclub. The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders brought their high energy and dance moves to the catwalk with sports-themed swimsuits, bikinis and an impressive array of body paint, all in the signature orange and aqua colors.
The calendar is available for $13.99 at www.miamidolphins.com, at the Pro Shop in the Dolphins training facility in Davie or by calling 1-800-334-4005.
