Memphis Grizzlies: The Grizzlies wrapped up the final round of Dance Team auditions at Bluesville – Horseshoe Casino on June 19. Thirty finalists were selected by judges during recent regional competitions in Jackson, Nashville, Little Rock and Memphis.
Following two days of rehearsals, the dancers took to the stage to impress a panel of judges and entertain a crowd of onlookers.
The pressure of entertaining a large audience can be a critical test for hopefuls who dream of becoming NBA dancers. After all, it takes talent and guts to perform in front of thousands. There’s no room for stage fright at center court.
All of the finalists delivered high-energy performances that included two numbers choreographed by Tamara Moore and self-choreographed, solo routines.
In the end, fifteen dancers were selected to represent the new team. Grizzlies Dance Team Choreographer Tamara Moore is pleased with the results.
"The ladies took to the stage and danced their hearts out, " she said. “We think we've chosen the best of the bunch and look forward to getting started on preparations for the new season.”
The 2008-09 team will make their first appearance at the Grizzlies Draft Party on June 26 prior to training for rehearsals that will tip-off in August.
