Redskins Draft Day

Posted by James at 7:39 AM ET

On Sunday my car died on the New Jersey Turnpike, so dealing with that has taken up much of my time, that's why these photos are sort of late.

Fortunately, my car was still running on Saturday and I was able to attend Redskins Draft Day at FedEx Field. The 2008-09 Washington Redskins Cheerleaders made their debut, although some of the squad was not present. They were still overseas, introducing American-style Cheerleading to cricket fans in India.

Seven-year veteran and second-year captain Tiffany. You might notice that Tiffany has a darker hair color this season, after 6 seasons she thought it was time to try something a little different.

Director Donald Wells always introduces uniform change each year. Since Donald is India, we asked Tiffany what was in store this year. She told us that the top will stay the same, but the shorts will get even shorter!

Back for her fourth season is Anabel. She's been in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, the September 06' Issue of FHM and on the cover of the '06-'07 Redskins Cheerleaders calendar. But Anabel hasn't let any of this go to her head, she remains quite humble and down-to-earth.

The Redskins Cheerleaders continue to be big news over in India. Here a correspondent for Voice of America films a report on the Cheerleaders. By now most of the original 12 Redskins Cheerleaders that made the trip have returned to the US, but another group has flown to India to continue cheering for the Royal Bangalore Challengers

Director and Choreographer Stephanie Jojokian and Director of Marketing Melanie Treanor. Melanie tells us coordinating with the sqaud in India has really got her busy. Due to the nine hour time difference, she'll be up till 1:30 am, and then when she wakes up he voice mail and inbox are full. Stephanie is headed over to India next week where not only will she instruct and choreograph but she'll also get a chance to dance at the games as well.

Stephanie also tells us that in addition to the wildly popular Redskins Youth Summer Dance Camp this summer she'll be running the first ever Redskins Youth Summer Cheerleader Camp.

More photos in the gallery. (Apologies to any rookies that I misidentify)
