SACRAMENTO, CA - Clarivel Avila loves to dance. But she also has a passion for making the streets a safe place to be.

Filled with gang violence, rape, and range of other bad influences Avila grew up watching the men and women of the Modesto police force work hard to keep the streets safe.

She now works as a CSI forensic specialist with the Concord Police Department.

"That feeling right there that I got that ... I'm going to be OK because they’re here to protect me," said Avila. "If I can give that feeling back to anybody ... when I'm around them, that's payment enough for me. That's why I do this job."

Recently, she pursued her love of dancing when she auditioned for a spot of the Kings Dance Team.

"I was completely overwhelmed with the whole experience because I'd never experienced anything like that and watching all these girls, and thinking, literally in the back of my head, there is no way. There's no way that I make this team."

But the 29-year-old did make the cut.
