Move over, Kelly Ripa: Former WTHR (Channel 13) reporter Stephanie Soviar will host a new show called Great Day St. Louis that premieres in September on the CBS-affiliate KMOV.

Soviar, who is married to race car driver Jeff Simmons, will be going by Stephanie Simmons on the new program, which will be a combination of local and national entertainment.

Stephanie, who is from Shelbyville, has been auditioning for the past two months.

"It was a nationwide talent search, so I feel very blessed and honored to be the main host," she said. The daily live show is "something I've been praying for," she said.

The move also kicks her up a notch in the world of television markets: St. Louis ranks 21st, and Indy 26th. Preproduction for the show starts in June.

Stephanie's enthusiasm, communications skills and energy level helped her land the job, according to one of the show's executive producers, Bobby Totsch. They plan to build the program, which they emphasize is not associated with the station's news operations, around her, Totsch said.

The local NBC affiliate, KSDK Channel 5, already produces a daily half-hour show called, Show Me St. Louis.

Stephanie, a former Colts Cheerleader, joined WRTV (Channel 6) as a morning traffic reporter in 2006 and moved over to morning reporter at Channel 13 a few months later. She graduated from Ball State University with a degree in telecommunications and worked on the West Coast as a field producer for E! Entertainment Television and The TV Guide Channel.

Jeff Simmons, who races in the Indy Lights program, will be keeping a lookout for a ride in the Indianapolis 500, should an opening occur.
