Nashville, TN, April 29, 2008 — Bill Vandiver, Man of the Year nominee for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, along with The Tennessee Titans Cheerleaders, will host a Cheers to Robin fundraising event that benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on April 30 from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. on the covered patio at Radius 10 (1101 McGavock, Nashville, 37203). There is a red carpet private entrance for the event.
General admission tickets are $100 and include a gift bag and ten raffle tickets. Tickets are being sold at The Edge of Belle Meade, 615-353-6464, and at The Edge of Brentwood, 615-377-4656. Both are salons co-owned by Vandiver. Additionally, patrons may call 615-565-4172 to purchase tickets. Cheerleaders will be selling extra raffle tickets throughout the night: ten tickets for $10. Raffles drawings will start at 9:00 p.m. and continue until 10:00. You must be present to win.
The Edge is the official salon of the Titans Cheerleaders. "I am honored to work year after year with the Titans cheerleaders and so appreciative that they are supporting me in my Man of the Year nomination," said Vandiver. "The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society does wonderful work and I hope that the funds generated with this event are significant, so even more people can be helped."
This is the second year the Tennessee Titans Cheerleaders have hosted the Cheers to Robin Event. It is in honor of Robin Roach, a former Kats Cheerleader, who lost her battle to Leukemia. Robin cheered for the Kats for four years, and worked in the Kats front office in season and group ticket sales for four years.
"Robin was a role model for all women, not just cheerleaders," said Stacie Kinder, director of cheerleading for the Tennessee Titans. "She was the embodiment of beauty on the inside and out. She was kind, generous, and had a sense of grace in all that she did. We put on this event because it's important that people remember all that she was, as she continues to inspire us. The cheerleaders have worked really hard to put this event together and it's one of the few events where our fans will get a chance to meet the cheerleaders and experience what they are like off the field."
Julia Nicholson, a two-year Titans cheerleading veteran agreed. "We work hard off the field with different charity organizations throughout the year but this event takes on a new meaning for all of us. We hope our fans will come out and enjoy the night celebrating such a wonderful cause."
The atmosphere will be lively and include music played by a DJ. Radius 10 will serve heavy hor d'oeuvres with a cash bar. There will be close to twenty raffle items, including a Laser Whitening Treatment, a humidor with cigars, landscaping gift certificate, tickets to a private Steeplechase party, and autographed items from sports figures and artists.
