On the Road with the MVC

Jessie and Brittany grabbed their pompoms, filled up the gas tank, and took off for their weekend in Brookings, South Dakota, March 7-9. They were guest dance judges for the “Baby I’m A Star” cheer and dance competition, put on by the Star Spangled Dance Academy. (www.starspangleonline.com)

The dance competition consisted of 5 divisions: Ballet/Lyrical, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, and Pom. Brookings proved to have a talented group of young dancers and cheerleaders! The MVC might have to recruit! The judges were impressed by the dancers talent, poise, confidence, and fun personality that shone through the dance performances.

After the competition was completed, Jessie and Brittany hosted a 3-hour cheer and dance clinic. They taught 61 girls, ages 5-18, a wide range of skills, cheers, dances, and talked about what it is like to be a professional cheerleader. After the skills were mastered (ok, maybe not quite…but it was fun to watch!), they broke into groups, and the 61 girls showed their purple pride when learning some Vikings Cheers and gameday dances. The young ladies soaked up every bit of information, cheer, and dance they could! After a long day of Vikings spirit, Jessie and Brittany gave 61 hugs, and hit the road.
