Saturday, April 5 marked the conclusion of a five-week audition process for the 2008 Patriots Cheerleading Squad. After weeks of dance auditions, personal interviews and rehearsals, 23 women were chosen to represent the 3 X Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots for the 2008 season.

The optional workshop for the 2008 Patriots Cheerleaders audition took place on Saturday, March 1. Just one week later, 300 women traveled to Gillette Stadium, despite heavy wind and rain, for preliminary auditions.

After 12 long hours of dancing and two rounds of eliminations, 53 women advanced to the final round. Half-hour personal interviews with each finalist and the Cheerleader Director, Tracy Sormanti, were scheduled throughout the following two weeks. Final auditions took place on Saturday, March 22, to include a swimsuit modeling segment, a question and answer session with the panel of judges, the performance of two routines learned at preliminaries, a freestyle dance segment and an optional tumbling pass.

32 women, to include veteran cheerleaders who were re-auditioning, then began a two-week session of optional practices in the cheerleader field house. These rehearsals included learning choreography, executing hundreds of high kicks, running all of the ramps at Gillette Stadium, stretching, Pilates and Kickboxing classes and public speaking training sessions. On Saturday, April 5, the final roster of 23 cheerleaders was announced.

The following ladies will represent the 3 X Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots on the sidelines and throughout the community for the 2008 season. Congratulations to all for a job well done! [Photos]
