Redskins Cheerleader Ambassador Raises Funds for Veteran's Families

Posted by James at 8:37 AM ET

Inspired by a visit to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington Redskins Cheerleader Ambassador Sarah Wingfield went out and founded her own non-profit, Luke's Wings.

Luke's Wings is an organization dedicated to the support of veterans who have been wounded through the War on Terror. Recognizing the immediate need for families to be with their loved ones at such a difficult time, Luke’s Wings provides families with the means to visit the veterans during their hospitalization and rehabilitation. By purchasing travel agency services and travel tickets for veterans’ loved ones, Luke’s Wings provides an immediate and invaluable service to the families of our men and women at arms.

Last Saturday at the City Tavern Club the organization held its first fund raiser, and $15,000 was raised. Check out this post from The Washingtonian for a report and photos from the party.
