Pacemate Angela and Salon 01 of Carmel and Fishers teamed up to give a little love to a worthy cause this past Valentine's Day. Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under the age of 18 who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss. This organization meets a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Many of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses they provide help restore the children’s self-esteem and confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

During the first half of the Pacers vs. Celtics game on Feb. 12, Angela sat anxiously at center court in front of thousands of fans as stylist Angela Coletta from Salon 01 snipped off her 10-inch ponytail in a matter of seconds.

“I love my new haircut!" Angela said. "Angela from Salon 01 did a great job! I really hope that the Locks of Love Promotion last night will influence others to do the same thing!”
