27-year-old itching for next Rock home game
Chantal, a 27-year-old Business Development Representative for a natural gas company in Burlington, made her return to the Rock's MGD Smooth Moves Dance Pak this year. She had previously danced for the team in 2002, traveling with the rest of the dance team to witness the Rock win the NLL Championship on the road, but took a few years off to pursue other interests. However, the excitement couldn't keep her away, and she's back on the Air Canada Centre turf in 2008.
Chantal has been dancing since she was five years old, and has studied all disciplines such as ballet, tap and jazz. She has also served as a cheerleader for the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats for the last five years and was also a part of the Hamilton Bulldogs cheer team.
She is no stranger to performing in front of large crowds and although she does still get the jitters she just can't seem to get enough.
"It's addicting, that's why I've been doing it for seven years," said Chantal. "Dance is my passion and to be able to perform in front of thousands of people makes all of the hard work worth it."
The Toronto Rock dance team rehearses for just three hours a week, but the practices are intense and the girls are always leaving sweaty, achy and exhausted.
Chantal can't wait for the next Rock home game and hopes that the team will make her comeback year as triumphant as they did when she first stepped out onto the turf.
