The latest honor for the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders came as Janipher was one of 12 NFL Cheerleaders selected to take part in the 14th edition of the magazine which is on newsstands now and will be seen by 69 million people around the world. It is the first time that NFL Cheerleaders are featured in the swimsuit issue. The magazine was unveiled at a party at the World Trade Center on Tuesday night in New York City.
"It was a real exciting moment for all of us (cheerleaders)," said Janipher. "We all share the same passion so to be experiencing such a big thing was great. It looks beautiful. I'm extremely happy."
The shoot took place in Manhattan this past July and was done by photographer Stewart Shining.
"It is an honor to have Janipher featured in the prestigious 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue," said director of cheerleading Barbara Zaun. "She is featured alongside some of the most beautiful models in the world including Heidi Klum and Marisa Miller which demonstrates the swimsuit model caliber that Janipher exemplifies and the international appeal of NFL Cheerleaders."
Janipher enjoyed the chance to chat up the world's premier supermodels at the magazine unveiling.
"They're so sweet. I had a chance to meet (cover girl) Marisa Miller before they unveiled her to the studio audience," said Janipher. "She's the typical American sweetheart. Very, very wholesome - that's the best way I could describe her. You can tell she has a very classy personality."
Janipher never imagined in her wildest dreams that being an Eagles Cheerleader could lead to an opportunity like appearing in the SI Swimsuit Issue. It is an amazing finish to her three years with the squad. Janipher graduated from Rutgers-Camden and recently accepted a job offer at Foot Locker's corporate headquarters in Manhattan as a merchandiser.
"It makes me sad. I'll miss it so much," said Janipher. "I'm the type of person who can take on a lot. I'm real good with time management, however, I will only take on whatever I can do 100 percent and this was just not something I could. If I can't give the Eagles everything I have ... they deserve better."
That's good news for you. The Eagles Cheerleaders are holding their Open Call Auditions on March 15 at Lincoln Financial Field. To help get a head start on the competition, the Eagles Cheerleaders are hosting a pre-audition workshop on Feb. 26 (Yikes, that's tonight - James). Janipher attended the pre-audition workshop three years ago and knows that gracing the pages of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue would not have been possible without the help she got from it.
"It was a huge advantage," said Janipher. "When you go in (the pre-audition workshop) you get to meet the girls and they're all friendly. You get to meet Barb and she's friendly and that's one of the things that made it much more comfortable to audition. You got to see how (team choreographer) Suzy (Zucker) worked and what her coaching technique was. Just acquainting yourself to the environment that you are trying to be a part of is just very, very helpful. It definitely helps you and I would highly, highly recommend it."
