Knightingales Captain busy in community as opener approaches

Alanna, a third-year member and Captain of the Rochester Knightingales Dance Team, has kept busy in the Rochester community as the Knighthawks opening weekend rapidly approaches.

A native of Fairport, NY, Alanna currently works part-time teaching children's gymnastics, working predominantly with kids one-year and older. She is also a full-time student at SUNY Brockport, and plans to become a physical education teacher and a cheerleading or dance team coach after graduation.

"I love working with kids and being a role model," said Alanna. "When the girls from our Junior Knightingales team go on the field you can see how excited they are. They really look up to us."

Recent Knightingales' duties included throwing a holiday party for children at the Rochester General Hospital, and volunteering at a golf tournament to benefit a cystic phybrosis cause.

The dance team unveiled their 2008 calendar, "Hot Girls, Cool Cars," at their launch party at the Clarion Riverside Hotel's Main Street Bar and Grill last Saturday. The Street Machines of Rochester provided classic cars which were featured in the calendar. Alanna was featured in May, dressed as a fairy with purple wings and a purple bikini.

Alanna and the Knightingales are planning on making a pit stop down I-90 to cheer on the Knighthawks in the team's opener in Buffalo on Friday, before returning to Blue Cross Arena to host the Bandits on Saturday. The Knighthawks will raise their 2007 Championship banner prior to faceoff.

"I can't wait for opening night," said Alanna. "We're going to show off our championship and beat Buffalo like we did three times last year."
