Hey Redskins Fans!

Being a rookie member of the First Ladies of Football has definitely been an amazing journey so far. Hearing my name called after a grueling week at final auditions, the calendar trip to Cancun, and running out onto FedExField in front of 90,000-plus fans for the very first time are experiences I will cherish forever.

There is one experience, however, that surpasses them all!

On Sept. 23, 2007, the Washington Redskins Junior Cheerleaders had the opportunity to perform during the halftime show of the New York Giants game at FedExField. Never have I been more excited for a performance in all my life!

My daughter, Kathryn (5 years old), was going to be dancing in front of an audience for the very first time! This was such a special moment for her. Not only was this her first performance, but we got to share this experience together.

I can remember being a little girl at a Redskins game wishing I could be one of the cheerleaders. Now, these young ladies don't have to wait until they've made the squad!

The Redskins Cheerleaders organization is one of the few in the NFL that offers a junior cheerleader program. Taught by some of the most talented choreographers in the nation's capital, the program allows young girls ages 5-15 the opportunity to perform at FedExField during two football games.

Running out onto the field with my little girl and seeing the excitement in her eyes when the music came on are moments that I will always remember. She was nervous before she made her big debut, but when the music stopped, she heard the applause.

We were running hand-in-hand off the field, she looked up and said, "Mommy! We won! We won!"

Well, the Redskins didn't end up with a win that day, but to all of the junior cheerleaders who performed at halftime, and to my sweet little Kathryn, CONGRATULATIONS!

We're so proud of you! You all did wonderful!
