NFL Week 6 – The Chargers Rock the Raiders

Posted by David Allen Tyau at 8:45 PM ET

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon in San Diego. The weather was nice and for Charger fans the football was outstanding. When the Raiders come to town, there’s always something exciting to watch whether it’s the football on the field or the fights in the stands. And there were plenty of both. Me, I prefer watching the action on the field or more properly the action on the sidelines.

I had a chance to meet and chat with some of the Charger Girls and I can tell you that they are all very nice people. I know it sounds like a cliché, but it’s true. They are like you and I, regular people with careers and educational aspirations. It just happens that they also dance on Sundays. Okay, they are also very good looking, but I won’t hold that against them.

Line Captain Ashley W. is a recent graduate of San Diego State University with a degree in Psychology. She works with autistic children when not cheering on the Chargers. In my book, that makes her beautiful both on the inside and out.

Marlina is another graduate of SDSU with a degree in Marketing. If there’s a Fortune 500 company that’s looking for a dedicated person who can dance as well as she can write a marketing plan, give her a call.

Here’s a photo of Charger Girl Alicia. Did I mention last time that Alicia is a proud U.C.L.A. Bruin? Beauty and brains. Go Bruins!

When we last saw Charger Girl Rebecca on NFL Cheerleaders Making the Squad, the Charger Girls, she was wearing a hard hat as a project manager in the Construction field. I think she looks a lot better in the Charger Girl uniform.

And speaking of looking good in the uniform, Line Captain Katrina and rookies Kylette, Carly, Jill Ann, and Shelby sparkle in front of 70,000 football Neanderthals.

Grizzled old vets Robin, Ashley M. and Line Captain Stacie show the rookies a move or two. You’ll notice that Stacie is still rocking the “big, sexy hair” look that is de rigueur for NFL cheerleaders.

Playing against the hapless Raiders, the Chargers were having a grand old time Sunday. And so were Charger Girls Kamri, Marisa, Constance, and Lindsay.

Charger Girl Michelle is always good for a few dramatic photos and this week was no exception.

As a photographer, I usually try to shoot tight when photographing the Charger Girls. It helps in cropping out visual distractions on the sidelines (thank you Roger Goodell for mandating all press photographers wear ugly red vests!). But, in shooting tight you don’t get to see the complete Charger Girl uniform. So, here’s a full body shot of Line Captain Summer showing off the entire uniform.

And here’s a more conventional photograph of Summer.

The Chargers pounded the Raiders, 28-14, winning for the eighth consecutive time against their hated foe. With the win, the boys in blue moved back into a first place tie in the AFC West. What a difference two weeks make. Well, win or lose I’ll still keep supporting the Chargers and more importantly, the Charger Girls.

Lest blog readers think that I am biased against the Raiders, I used to be a Raider season ticket holder when they played in Los Angeles. Here’s a photo of the Raiders’ lone highlight of the day. It’s a shot of linebacker Thomas Howard intercepting a Phillip Rivers pass and returning it for a touchdown.

Yeah, I can shoot football players too!
