Irving, Texas Woodlands Online -- Auditions for the 2007-2008 squad of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders were conducted earlier this spring at Texas Stadium, with over 1,000 women competing to become a select member of America’s Sweethearts. An exclusive squad of 38 women have been selected to represent America’s Team for the 2007-2008 football season.

After 12 weeks of arduous fitness training and demanding dance rehearsals, these ladies will proudly don the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders famous star spangled uniform for their first official appearance on August 9, 2007 in a pre-season game against the Indianapolis Colts.

For the second year in a row, the squad was chosen in front of CMT film crews and cameras while they documented the meticulous transformation of each girl for the upcoming television special that will air for its second season this fall. The cameras captured unique behind the scenes footage of the demanding requirements that are essential to earn the privilege of wearing the uniform of America’s most notorious cheerleaders.

Meredith Oden joins the squad as one of 18 rookies who will be wearing the DCC uniform for her first season. Oden, a 22-year-old The Woodlands, Texas native, is a 2003 graduate of The Woodlands High School. She is a college student in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Formed in 1972 to add glamour, excitement and entertainment value to the NFL game day experience, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders quickly became an American icon, and are recognized around the world as an elite performance group. The Cheerleaders perform annually at Cowboys games in Texas Stadium, travel to exotic tropical locations to photograph the DCC swimsuit calendar, and regularly appear on national television shows, commercials, magazine covers, and Hollywood films. The DCC show group has proudly entertained U.S. military personnel around the world since 1979, making more international tours with the USO than any other entertainment group in the world.

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are truly extraordinary women chosen to exemplify the high standards of the Dallas Cowboys Football Club and to proudly represent their hometowns, their country and young women everywhere.
