The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced the 16 members of the 2007-'08 Sea Wolves Ice Girls on Wednesday.
The Ice Girls will appear at local community events and at all Sea Wolves home games. They will serve as ambassadors for the team and will also help to raise funds for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.
"We're really excited to have the Sea Wolves Ice Girls represent our organization in the community," Sea Wolves Director of Community Relations Stacy Simon said. "We have 16 women who are all very enthusiastic about the upcoming season, and we look forward to developing our partnership with the Memorial Hospital Foundation."
The 2007-'08 Sea Wolves Ice Girls squad is composed of Elizabeth Barton, Aimee Lee Bertucci, Kristen Broyles, Katherine Carbone, April Chandler, Sara Franklin, Tiffany Guiterez, Mikie Haggerty, Elizabeth Hare, Zander Holloway, Samantha Johnston, Tiffany Patton, Blythe Stanowski, Bianca Stas and Lauren Alise Woods. Chelsea Blosky will serve as team captain.
"We had more than 100 women audition for the team, and we really had some tough decisions to make," Sea Wolves President Bill Yates said. "After a thorough process of tryouts and interviews, we selected a group that we are very proud to have representing the organization."
The Sea Wolves will hold their home season opener in the Coast Coliseum on Oct. 27 against Reading as the team begins its 10th ECHL season.
