ProDance '07 Choreographer Spotlight: Chuck Maldonado

Posted by Sasha at 7:39 PM ET

Last year, Chuck Maldonado wowed everyone at ProDance with a step master class six months before his box office bash "Stomp The Yard" hit theaters!! This year, Chuck is back to showcase his diversity with THREE routines for everyone at ProDance 2007!

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Chuck Maldonado has obtained a BS degree in Marketing, at North Carolina A&T State University and a Masters in Education. After teaching Spanish, he decided to chase his dreams as a dancer and choreographer. He then began studying all aspects of dance at Atlanta Studio Dance, Gotta Dance Studio and New York City Broadway Dance Center. This allowed him to enhance, and gain training in ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, and break dancing.

With such a wide varied dance background, Chuck was given the opportunity to dance for the Atlanta Hawks Dance Team, and choreograph and dance in the "Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta". Chuck went on to form numerous Metro-Atlanta dance teams including Left Eye Productions in which he helped to build with "Lisa Left Eye Lopes" from TLC. This would later lead to the opportunity of choreographing for Blaque and "Block Party" which would be the only solo music video Left Eye would release.

Chuck has work with such artists as Left Eye, Jennifer Lopez, Blaque, Tamia, Sisqo, Usher, Mya, Taylor Dane, Pink, Anastacia, Xscape, Latocha Scott, Kaci, Missy Elliott, 2 Skinnee J's, Light House Family, Billy Crawford, Raven Symone, Kelly Price, Chris Brown, Marcus Houston, and Roslin Sanchez (Rush Hour 2) to name a few.

Recently Chuck was assistant choreographer (STEP Choreography) for the smash hit move "Stomp The Yard", and received rave reviews for his choreography of the NAACP Image Awards opening performance. (Click here to watch Chuck in action.)
