Bonus Flashback: The XFL

Posted by James at 6:06 AM ET

Remember the XFL?

The brainchild of World Wrestling Entertainment Vince McMahon lasted for only one season. Aside from "He Hate Me" and replacing the coin toss with a scramble for the football, the league has largely been forgotten. But a reader of the blog sent us a few photos of the XFL Cheerleaders and jogged our memory.

And now let's go back to 2001:

XFL Cheerleaders
A Cheerleader for the Birmingham Thunderbolts
(Update 5/30): I am reliably informed that this is is current Dallas Mavericks Dancer Sunni Cranfill. More on Sunni here.

XFL Cheerleaders
A Member of the Chicago Enforcer Cheerleaders

XFL Cheerleaders
A Las Vegas Outlaws Cheerleader. Love that necklace.

XFL Cheerleaders
The New York/New Jersey Hitmen Cheerleaders

XFL Cheerleaders
A Cheerleader for the Orlando Rage

XFL Cheerleaders
Cheerleaders for the San Francisco Demons

XFL Cheerleaders
The LA Xtreme Cheerleaders pose with the XFL Championship Trophy. The Xtreme defeated the Demons 38-6 to win the only XFL Championship.

We can only hope that Sasha will stop by and comment on the uniforms ;)
