Ultimate Cheerleaders (The First Five Years)

Sunday afternoon at Arlington Draft House in front of a sell-out crowd the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders Auditions Finals were held. In a unique paegent-style format featuring cocktail dresses, swimsuits and dance routines fifty-one hopefuls gave it their all in an attempt to become a member of the "First Ladies of Football."




A couple of the judges for the auditions. On the left is Deborah Miller who is the State Director of the Miss Maryland-USA Pageant. On the right is Terri Lamb, the President of the Redskins Cheerleaders Alumni Association.



We're going to miss one of out favorite cheerleaders, Rebecca. She retired from the squad, but now she's got a new job as a correspondent for RedskinsTV. She was on hand covering the auditions. Make sure to log on to RedskinsTV all season long for her reports.

Courtney is back for her 12th season with the Redskins Cheerleaders.

The auditions began with the candidates coming out on stage in cocktail dresses.


Then came the performances. During the week of auditions the ladies were taught three different dance routines, and led to believe that they would be required to perform all three at the auditions. Director Donald Wells explained this was done just to make sure they would learn all the routines. On Sunday the candidates were required to only perform one routine.

Director of Entertainment and Cheerleaders Donald Wells is entering his 11th season with the Washington Redskins.

The second part of the auditions was in a pageant-style format with the candidates modeling swimsuits. The Cheerleaders will be heading off to the Carribean in early May to shoot their 2008 Swimsuit Calendar.

Leeanne is back for her third season with the Redskins. Before cheering for Washington she was a Baltimore Ravens Cheerleader for two seasons.

A pair of retired veterans we will miss. On the left is Romney who just retired from the Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders. On the right GeNienne hangs up her boots after eight season with the Redskins Cheerleaders. Both Romney and GeNienne are graduates of the University of Richmond. Go Spiders!



A couple of more retired veterans. On the left is the adorably cute Lisa who will be attending law school at the University of Maryland. On the right it's the very glamorous Michaé who is continuing her reign as Miss Maryland-USA 2007.
