Redskins Cheerleaders at Draft Day:
Meet the Rookies

Posted by James at 8:54 PM ET

It was quite the party at FedEx Field on Saturday. Players and alumni were on hand. Kids got to participate in a variety events on the actual field. They even brought Head Coach Joe Gibbs in a helicopter.

Of course it was also the debut of the 45th edition of "The First Ladies of Football." There was so much to cover between autograph signings, introductions and performances, I can't fit it all into one post.

So we'll start with the newest members of the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders. (I think I've got all the names and info correct, but if not I apologize in advance)

Washington Redskins Cheerleaders
Lee Ann is from South Africa. New members hail from all across the country and the world. Germany are also represented on the squad.

Klover is a practicing attorney. From high school student to patent examiner and from mother to cancer survivor the rookies have a diverse backround.

Washington Redskins Cheerleaders
Anna is a graduate student and a former Ravens Cheerleader and Seattle Sea Gal. Is cheering for 3 different NFL teams a record? perhaps I'll explore that in a future post.

Washington Redskins Cheerleaders
Barbra is a Director of Early Childhood Education.

Washington Redskins Cheerleaders
Eileen, Erica and Brittany. Eileen is an insurance account representative. Erica is a public health analyst and former AFL Chicago Adrenaline Rush Dancer. Brittany is the reigning Miss Maryland. Her platform is raising awareness about skin cancer. Brittany was diagnosed with melanoma when she was 20.

Nicole is a science teacher and former Captain of the University of Maryland Dance Team.

Sharica was a former Ravens and Texans Cheerleader. Is cheering for 3 different NFL squads a record? It looks like I will definitely have to investigate this.

Washington Redskins Cheerleaders
Anna and Jenny. Jenny is a customer service manager from Virginia.

Washington Redskins Cheerleaders
Jessica S. is a proud mom from Maryland.

Washington Redskins Cheerleaders
Jessica C. and Nicole. If I heard correctly Jessica will be graduating from high school next month.

(Okay here's where I'm having a little trouble keeping the brunettes straight.)

Washington Redskins Cheerleaders
Brittni is a three-time member of the Junior Redskins All-Stars Dance Team and will also be graduating from high school next month.

Michelle B. smiles for the camera. She's a student.

On stage for introductions

Since auditions, Director and Choreographer Stephanie Jojokian has been really working the new ladies hard teaching then the "The Rock". "The Rock" is a 7+ minute routine (that's very long!) set to some really heart pumping rock.(think Quite Riot and George Thorogood) It's a staple of the Redskins Cheerleaders Variety Show. Despite having less than 2 weeks to learn the whole routine, the ladies really rocked "The Rock." The crowd was astounded and amazed.

I don't know what the technical term is for when the cheerleaders go directly from a kick-line to a split, but it's mighty impressive. Half of me is thinking "Wow!", the other half thinks "Geez! That's got to hurt."

The Big Finale! Let me tell you the crowd went crazy.

So that's our look at the newest Redskins Cheerleaders. Everyone I talked to staff, veterans, fans all agreed that this one outstanding group of young ladies. And we're certainly looking forward to seeing them all season long.
