Eagles Cheerleader Audition Update
Field Pared To 60 As Cheerleader Finals Near
March 25, 2006

Lora has been a member of the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders for the past two seasons. Even with that experience, Lora still gets nervous when it comes to the audition process.
"When you see the other girls go before you, it builds up the anticipation," said Lora. "You want to just get it over with."
Turns out the nerves were not much of an issue for Lora, who was among the 60 ladies who survived the semi-final round of the auditions for the 2006 Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders.
Approximately 130 girls met with team choreographer Suzy Zucker on Tuesday evening to learn the routine for the audition, which was held Wednesday at Lincoln Financial Field. The judges scored the contestants based on two categories, beauty and dance ability. After the judges watched 27 groups dance, the field was narrowed to 60 finalists, who will compete in the Final Auditions on April 19 at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pa.
Tickets will be available to the public (check back for details).
Thirty-eight girls will emerge from the final audition to form the 2006 squad. One thing is for certain. Every girl has to fight for her spot. No spots are guaranteed. Twenty-five veterans returned to try out for this year's squad and 24 of them advanced to next month's competition.
"This part of the competition is fierce," said Valerie, a three-year veteran of the squad and finalist. "The adrenaline gets you pumping. You're in here with all of these girls who are well-rounded and what the Eagles are looking for."
There will be at least 14 girls on the squad that were not on it last season. One of those potential rookies, Amanda, sought the advice of girls on the team after falling short in the audition process last season. This year, it's paying off with a trip to the finals.
"The girls are so beautiful. You look around and everyone is a great dancer," said Amanda. "When you go in, you have to get in your zone and get away from everyone else. It's scary, so you just have to perform."
The returning veterans from last season who are still alive in the competition include Adrienne, Allison, Amanda, Amy, Ashley, Carly, Caroline, Christina, Danielle, Janet, Janette, Janipher, Jennifer K., Krystle, Lindsey, Lora, Monteece, Paige, Pam, Stephanie, Tara, Teressa, Tia and Valerie.
