Attention So Cal Dancers - ChivaGirl Auditions Next Month!

Posted by Sasha at 10:06 PM ET

Heads-up, ladies! ChivaGirl auditions are set for Sunday, February 15th. (Click here for details.)

If you live in Southern California, and have dreams of dancing for a professional sports franchise, this is an A++ opportunity.

Chivas USA is a popular MLS team. I recognize that you might not know much about this team. After all, here in the States, soccer isn't quite as popular as it is in...say...the entire rest of the world. So I'm going to tell you a few things you need to know.

1. It's CHEE-vuss. Not CHIVV-uss. Not SHEE-vuss. Ok? I don't want you to go out there sounding crazy.

2. This is a professional NFL/NBA style dance team. No rah rah or stunts. Just great dancing.

3. Don't worry about the soccer thing. You remember the basics from gym class. You'll pick up the rest as you go along.

4. No, you don't need to speak Spanish. Here in So Cal, knowing Spanish is always a plus, but there's no penalty if you don't.

5. Let's talk management. This isn't some mickey mouse operation. Director Aimee Edmonson is a former Laker Girl, and has been in the industry for a long time. That's the sensibility that she brings to the team.

6. The ChivaGirls - a fantastic team in their own right - have sent recent alumni along to other professional dance teams in the region. In the past two years, ChivaGirls have been selected to the San Diego Charger Girls, Los Angeles Clippers Spirit Dance Team, Los Angeles Laker Girls, and the Anaheim Arsenal A-List Dance Team.

This is a professional experience that is also lots of fun. Picture it: Dancing. Photo shoots (including the annual swimsuit calendar shoot). Public Appearances. Philanthropic opportunities in the community. Costumes by Angela King Designs. Choreography by John Peters and other well-known professionals in the field. What's not to like?

So dust off your dancing shoes and circle Feb 15 on your calendar. And in the meantime, check out these videos of the ChivaGirls in action. You can also click here to read my behind-the-scenes report and view tons of photos from a Chivas USA game last summer.
